Building Regulations

The Building Regulations is a set of pre-defined standards ensuring safe building practices and good workmanship. The standards cover structure, fire safety, sound and thermal insulation, ventilation, drainage, flues, access for the disabled, staircases and glazing.

There are two processes in obtaining Building Regulation Approval:

Process 1:
The Building Control department will approve the plans submitted to them making sure that they comply with the regulations. Changes will have to be made until they are completely satisfied.
This is known as Full Plans approval and this is what ADP will obtain on your behalf if requested.

Process 2:
You submit a build notice and the Building Control department will inspect the works at various stages of the construction and issue a Compliance Certificate upon completion. This does not require technical drawing to be prepared and leaves the responsibility of ensuring Building control compliance with the builder.
